The national exhibition tour Whose Nature? which focuses on photographing nature, arrives at Kunsthalle Turku on the 16th of July. An exceptionally wide photography project aims to find from the photographs new tools to promote sustainable development and the diversity of nature.

The goal of the Whose Nature? – project is to join photographers and nature photographers, scientists and everyone interested in nature to ponder together a new nature photo as well as its role in waking up social dialogue. Coordinated by the Arts Promotion Centre, the project will be touring the whole of Finland in 2021.

– Finally the nature photographers and visual artists come together in a joint exhibition highlighting the polyphonic meanings of nature and a sustainable way of looking and experiencing nature. The selected nature photographers and visual artists starting the exhibit series produce through their works a new kind of operative viewpoint, where nature isn’t anyone’s, but on the other hand belongs to everyone, describes TaT Juha Suonpää, the exhibition’s curator as well as art, nature and environment photography docent.

The idea is to give birth to and excelarate positive reactions and change towards a more sustainable development. The project speaks on behalf of nature, promotes experts and builds new action platforms for professionals and hobbyists. The central themes of the exhibition are change, adaptation and hope.
