This year, the exhibition was juried by visual artist and author Heikki K\u00e4nn\u00f6 who selected pieces from 38 artists after reviewing a staggering 160 applications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The artists in the exhibition:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eeva-Kaisa Ailus, Lilli Haapala ja Juri Jalasm\u00e4ki, Saija Hairo, Jukka Hakanen, Anu Halmesmaa, Milla Hannula, Toni Hautam\u00e4ki, Sini-Meri Hedberg, Roos Hermsen, Marjatta Holma, Sami Jalonen, Anne J\u00e4rvi, Venla Kaasinen, Milla Karppinen, Lena Kuivisto, Saara Kumpulainen, Sakari Kyyr\u00f6nen, Reeta Leinonen, Jussi Lipasti, Nea Mattila, Jan Helge Muurinen, Pirkko M\u00e4kel\u00e4-Haapalinna, Satu-Maaria M\u00e4kipuro, Laura Nevanper\u00e4, Arja Maarit Puhakka, Jarkko Rantanen, J. Saari, Anni Saijonkivi, Heli Sammalisto, Silja Selonen, Sini Talonen,\u00a0 Suvi Toivoniemi, Henri Tuominen, Andr\u00e9a Vannucchi, Fanny Varjo, Kaisa Viitasalo, Jirko Viljanen and Caroline Ward-Raatikainen<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The submissions included art from all fields. Paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, graphic prints, collages and video art. The subject matter connecting the pieces was quite traditional. Portraits, still life, clean abstraction as well as landscapes both concrete and of the mind. &#8220;The pieces that spoke to me the most were the ones that were connected to each other by some inner tension&#8221;, describes author and artist Heikki K\u00e4nn\u00f6.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>K\u00e4nn\u00f6 has selected The Artist of the Year from the artists\u00b4of the Annual Exhibition 2022, who will be announced in the opening of the exhibition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Annual Exhibition 2022 is the 98th of its kind, and the call for applications was open to all artists and artist collectives from Southwest Finland.
