The multimedia installation Volatile Score is a self-operating air and sound instrument. Murphy visited smell laboratories and recorded sound for the work during a research residency in Tokyo. The installation consists of a series of glass and metal flutes that are coded to sound together using a computer-coded pneumatic air system. Shifting between robotic entities and scientific instruments, the sculptures begin to play and operate seemingly in their own time frame. Info<\/a><\/p>\n

The Jarkko Rantanen exhibition consists of portraits. The project began when Rantanen asked people to model for him during covid lockdown. Colleagues and friends as well as unknown people modelled for paintings. The important thing for the artist was meeting and getting to know people during the painting process. The paintings are partly sketch-like, and painted in oil on various types of materials. Info<\/a><\/p>\n

This is an event where we look at Jarkko Rantanen\u2019s portraits and talk about them using the Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) method. The method is an excellent way to slowly immerse oneself in art, and discuss it without pressure. This is not a traditional guided tour. Instead, VTS coach, artist and art educator Salla Keskinen leads the discussion with simple questions.
