Turku Artist’s Association’s 102nd annual exhibition, in Iso Galleria at Kunsthalle Turku, showcases art by members of Turku Artists’ Association and other artists based in Finland Proper. The exhibition is curated by visual artist Juha Joro. The curator elects Turku Artists’ Association’s Artist of the Year 2026 among the artists of the annual exhibition.
“Turku Artists’ Association’s 102nd Annual Exhibition is a versatile collection of high-quality art. This regional exhibition concept reminds me of the old nationwide regional exhibitions. These exhibitions offered an interesting view to local, topical visual arts. And for many young artists, the exhibitions were a chance to take a professional step forward, towards national recognition. I want to congratulate Turku Artists’ Association for nurturing and promoting this fine tradition of annual exhibitions.
The works were selected based on peer review. This required a many-phased selection process where the number of works comes, step by step, closer to the final body of works and a balanced installation. The exhibition space placed its own requirements, for instance when balancing a work’s physical size in relation to the space available, and a work’s relationship to other works. The abundance and high artistic quality of the works offered go to show that visual arts in Finland Proper are alive and well – despite the trends in society.” – Juha Joro
The exhibition includes works by these 18 artists: Anna Ellmén, Anu Halmesmaa, Laura Heino-Laurila, Marjatta Holma, Ella K, Venla Kaasinen, Sirkku Ketola, Paula Korhonen, Sara Manninen, Katariina Mäkelä, Erkki Nampajärvi, Markku Ojala, Viivi Osmonen, Oili Puolitaival, Hanna Saali, Niina Suominen, Iida Tuulenharju, Kaisa Villikka
